Norm Kahn,
CEO/ Executive Producer

As CEO of Utopia Worldwide, Inc.(formerly Utopia Entertainment), Norm Kahn brings over 25 years of design and production experience. Producing groundbreaking attractions globally is his passion.  Norm’s reputations enables him to leverage his vast production experience and impressive network of designers and suppliers who support the company’s operations.

  • General Manager for Soundelux Showorks (2000-2002): Managed the Theme Park development and production for this worldwide production company for two years as SVP and General Manager. 
  • Vice President of Entertainment for Universal Studios Hollywood (1996-2000): Ran the Entertainment Department of this Major Theme Park, overseeing a $25 MM USD annual operating budget, over 15,000 live shows per year, with over 600 employees.Show Producer/ Project Manager for Universal Creative (1988-1996) designing and building some of Universal Studios most well-known attractions, like Jurassic Park, Back to the Future the Ride, and Jaws. In 1996 Norm served as Project Manager for the groundbreaking attraction “WaterWorld.”
  • “Waterworld- A Live Sea War Spectacular” won Universal Studios Hollywood “Attraction of the Year” award from the Themed Entertainment Association.  Norm was awarded the patent for the innovative stage design. 

Norberto Urrea, Director Of Production

Norberto has 10 years’ experience working in the events industry including holding positions at LA Works and the Edinburgh Royal Botanical Gardens.  He worked in areas such as costuming, set construction, lighting, and project management.  Eventually he obtained his Master of Science in International Festival and Event Management from Edinburgh Napier University.  

At Utopia, Norberto started as Production Assistant and earned his place as Director Production. His efforts extend throughout all phases of Utopia’s project development, production, and execution ensuring success. In his little free time, he enjoys weightlifting, reading books, and woodworking.

Rob Carreiro, Technical Director

Meet Rob, a seasoned Technical Director with a diverse background in construction, theater, theme parks, and live events. His unique blend of skills and expertise makes him a go-to person for tackling projects of any size. Rob recently rejoined Utopia Worldwide in this role, where he is equipped with an uncanny ability to solve problems on the fly.

Prior to his return to Utopia, Rob spent five years as a Project Manager at Pacific Event Services, overseeing all aspects of production for projects up to 2M. This included design, budgeting, scheduling, pre-production, and logistics of lighting, audio, video, rigging, staging, and projections. As the primary liaison between clients and various entities, Rob’s effective communication and leadership skills ensured smooth project delivery. He led an internal crew onsite as well as production partners and sub-vendors.

Rob’s impressive career also includes six years as a Production Manager with Utopia Worldwide, where he orchestrated logistical and technical aspects of projects from design to production with budgets up to 5M. From master-planning, attractions and live shows to operations, training, and consulting, Rob coordinated multiple vendors as well as multiple entities from the city, state, and private sector. He seamlessly communicated across languages, countries, and continents, consistently delivering top-notch results.

Hailey Buck, Production Manager

Hailey provides support to the UTOPIA Team both in and out of the field. As a Jack-of-All trades in entertainment, she steps in to help in all phases of projects from creative development to production, all while securing new opportunities.  starting as an office production assistant before working her way up.
 
Hailey graduated with high honors from the University of California Berkeley studying Theatre and Performance Studies with a thesis on environmental and interactive theater. She has worked for the San Francisco Playhouse and Aurora Theater. In her free time, she can be found reading, watching TV, playing tabletop games, or feverishly working on whatever hobby she is obsessed with this week.

Maura Chavez, Assistant Production Manager

As part of Utopia’s Team, Maura contributes to both the On and Off Field Visions. ‌Though she has worked in various departments, she finds the entertainment management industry the most enjoyable!

Nothing like creating the impossible into reality!  ‌A true force of dedication, creativity, and teamwork. ‌Maura‌ ‌is a Criminal Justice major with other certificates behind her back. She constantly seeks to expand her knowledge and skills as she continues her education. ‌Aside from hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family, she enjoys going on trips to National Parks.

Kevin Alarcon, Lead Production Tech

Our lead technician at Utopia, noted for his expertise in flawlessly installing, putting up, and displaying , lighting,  and rigging aspects for the most exciting events. 

His expertise extends to the efficient and quick execution of the full process, as well as a surprising ability to disassemble and pack up with accuracy. Kevin’s commitment to immaculate event execution, combined with his expertise in managing all technical components, makes him an important force in Utopia’s drive to providing unmatched entertainment experiences.

Amy Marroquin, Production Assistant

Amy Marroquin is our production assistant that will be supporting both office and on field projects. Amy graduated with honors from California State Northridge and has loved event production since the start of her educational career.

 

She’s passionate about creating great memories for all guests and clients. She loves being a part of a team that makes exciting events for people to enjoy. When she’s not working, she likes to take long walks and spend time with her family and two dogs.
